Keys

Your key will allow you to enter:

• Main entrance door
• All outside doors
• Bicycle sheds
• Library
• All seminar rooms
• The offices designated to you (depending on your position)

The key can be picked up from the reception desk on your first working day and will be valid until the end of your contract or guest stay.

When signing the receipt for the key you oblige yourself to:

• Make sure to keep your key at a safe place. A lost key can cause expensive and intensive changes to the lock system.
• Not lend out your key.
• Immediately report a lost key to Facility.
• At the termination of your contract/end of guest stay you will personally return the key to the reception on the last working day.
• For a lost or not returned key an amount of Euro 85,- can be charged to you.

On the key there are 2 signs visible:

• A battery: in general the battery of your key should last 2 years. If your battery runs out you can get a new one at the reception desk.
• A face that is either looking happy or looking sad: a happy face allows you to enter the above rooms, a sad face means your access has expired (for example because your contract has expired).

It is therefore very important to make sure your stay at our institute is known to the right people, by either requesting an extension of your contract (please talk to your supervisor/director) or requesting a guest status in time.

When your stay has been extended, it is very important you have your key access activated again at the reception desk.

Please note that when you put your key in the lock, you should wait for 2 seconds before turning it. If you turn it immediately the key might block so you cannot open or lock the door.

In the interest of security, make sure to lock all windows and doors when leaving your guest room or office and keep valuables under lock and key.

Please note that the key of anyone who has access to experiment rooms, will not be valid until the end of a contract or guest status, but for a limited period of time, either June 30th or December 31st of each year. You will be reminded in time to extend your key access, because the limited period is applicable to all rooms on your key, so also your office and the main entrance door!

It is very important that you inform the TG and the reception if you no longer need access to experiment rooms, because there is a limited number of users that can have access to each experiment room! To avoid blocking the access for users who really need to use an experiment room, you should always make sure to have your key access adjusted at the reception.
