Sustainability

The Sustainability Working Group consists of volunteer enthusiasts from all departments interested in taking action to improve the state of our planet. We first came together in 2021. We work closely together with Operations, the MPG Sustainability Network, the Radboud Green Office, and collaborate with the MPI's Diversity and Inclusion Working Group.

Defining sustainability more holistically, we have divided it into four primary pillars: climate neutrality, circularity, healthy environment, and equal opportunities. During our monthly brainstorming sessions, we explore how we can transform our institute into a more sustainable version and foster environmental awareness among our colleagues. Our initiatives range from monthly sustainability-themed movie nights followed by group discussions, to bike days, where we visit a local bike shop for maintenance, promoting the sustainable and health-beneficial culture of cycling to work.

If you would like to delve deeper into our group's activities, future plans, or perhaps join our pursuits for a more sustainable MPI, we warmly welcome you to contact us at sustainability@mpi.nl. Our group thrives on diversity, and every new member brings in fresh, valuable perspectives.
