    Electronic books

The Max Planck Society also carries a number of eBooks. Max Planck-wide licensed eBooks and eBooks we bought are integrated in our catalog

Separately, you can search these platforms:

    • Max Planck E-Books catalog: a catalog to search eBooks which have been licensed by the MPS, like Oxford Scholarship online, O'Reilly, etc.
    • EBL - eBook platform: a platform to search new eBooks, to browse, or to request a loan or purchase from different publishers.
    • Safari Tech Books Online: an online electronic reference library by providing access to the electronic versions of a broad range of technical books from leading publishers.
    • MIT Cognet: online Cognitive Science collection from The MIT Press.

EBL is an eBook platform that works in association with ebooks.com and bookseller Schweitzer Fachinformation.

All available eBooks can be searched, then read online or free for 5 minutes. After the initial 5 minutes, it depends if the book is above a certain budget threshold. If it is not, you can download or read the book online immediately, otherwise you have to request it via a link form our library.

These downloads are so-called loans for 1, 7, or 14 days. You can also suggest the book immediately to be a useful acquisition for our library.

You need Adobe Digital Editions to read the eBook on your desktop or laptop, on mobile devices you will need Bluefire Reader or another e-reader. You probably have to install it, if you are not allowed to do so on your pc, please ask TG. After installing and signing in to Adobe, you can use the book on 5 different devices.

Please see these instructions on how to use Adobe Digital Editions and mobile devices (the instructions are in German, but there are pictures!)
