Support
All email accounts are hosted on an MS-Exchange server at the GWDG in Göttingen. In case of email-related problems, you can contact the support team of the MPG computer centre in Göttingen (GWDG) directly at support@gwdg.de or +49/551/201-1523.
Limitation on sending emails
There is a general limitation on the maximum number of emails that can be sent (about 500 emails per day). If you need to send more emails within 24 hours (for instance, to invite a large number of subjects), this must be requested through support@gwdg.de.
Even if the limit is enlarged, it is strongly recommended to send the emails in batches of 50 to 100 emails per time.
Export email, contact, and calendar items
If you are leaving the institute, you might want to take the emails your received and sent during your stay with you. MS-Outlook offers sophisticated tools to backup and/or export email, contacts and calendar to another account, or if you want to use them in another (email) application.
- Go to File > Options > Advanced > Export
- In the Import and Export Wizard select the option 'Export to file'
- Then select 'Outlook Data File (.pst)'
- Press Next and select the data of the current email account you want to export. Select a name and location where you want the exported file and press Finish
