MPI-scratch
Windows and Macintosh can exchange files within the institute on a network folder called MPI-Scratch.
MPI-Scratch is a folder that can be found on the server NT00. In Windows, to manually go to MPI-Scratch (it should be mapped as M: drive as default), go to \\nt00\mpi-scratch in the Windows explorer. Here you can create a new folder or put your files in an existing folder.
Important to know:
- All other MPI users have access to these files (with read, write, and delete permissions)
- If the files are not used within 15 days, they will be deleted automatically, without further notice. Empty folders will be deleted as well.
- There are no backups. MPI-Scratch is meant for file exchange, not storage.
If you only want to share the files with a select group of people, you have to delete the files as soon as you made sure everyone collected the files.
The MPI-Scratch is accessible for Linux Desktop users using the KDE graphical desktop environment.
- Start the file manager Dolphin from the start menu
- Go to Network and choose "Add Network Folder
- Select "Microsoft Windows network drive"
- Fill in the information as on the image below.
- You are connected now.
