Printing from Wifi or (wired) Guest Network

This page will give you more information on how to print something via WiFi or a (wired) guest network. This applies to MPI computers with a wireless connection to the network and all not-MPI computers (wired and wireless).

    Windows

    1. (Optional: download and install the required printer driver for the specific printer. You can find the printer driver on the website of the manufacturer.)
    2. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners
    3. While searching, click 'The printer that I want isn't listed'
    4. Type http://nt13.mpi.nl/printers/YOURPRINTERNAME/.printer

    5. Login with your MPI user account: MPI_NL\<account name> and your MPI password
    6. If you did not do step 1, choose 'generic / txt only'

    Macintosh

Unfortunately, it is not possible to print directly from your Mac.

One workaround would be to set up a VPN connection to our network. Then download the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the App Store and connect to remotedesktop1 (or remotedesktop2). Open the app > press Cmd-N and paste 'remotedesktop1' into the [PC name] field > click [Add]. Double-click the connection you just made and fill out your credentials. You will log onto the Remote Desktop server from where you can print.

You can also easily copy-paste the documents you wish to print from your Mac onto the Windows desktop.

    Linux

Because there are multiple different Linux distributions with different methods to configure printers, no exact recipe can be given. However, the Linux print server is available using CUPS. Add it with this url. Or with the following hostname: 'cupsserver.mpi.nl'.

Do not forget to review the print settings for paper size (A4), colour, and double-sided printing before issuing a print job.
